Established in 2006 by RTI under contract with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the overarching goal of the Health Information Security & Privacy Collaboration (HISPC) is to address barriers to health information exchange. The first phase of the project identified privacy and security as a major barrier to be addressed. The following phases of HISPC have focused on identifying privacy and security best practices and balancing privacy concerns with the best available treatment.

HISPC’s Provider Education Toolkit aims to do just that. Our goal is to make providers aware of the current privacy and security challenges and benefits as they relate to HIE adoption. Both the national Provider Education Toolkit, found at www.Secure4Health.org, and state-level activities outlined on this Web site will help the health care community get connected. So please explore, take advantage of the tools and resources provided here, find HIE initiatives in your area of the state, and most importantly, GET CONNECTED!

A welcome message from Michigan Physician Champion Steven Grant, MD.
